Burningman and Social Axiety
Burningman is a wonderful experience for many people. It is a space for some to express themselves and the things that they normally keep hidden from the rest of their lives.
For one week, with a population that reaches approximately 35,000, Black Rock City is the third largest city in the state of Nevada. Some believe it to be the freest city in the nation.
Many people go to Burningman and come back changed.
For me, Burningman was a sad encounter. I would estimate that a majority of the people who go there, wear their freak flags for that week and that week only. It is the week-long-party that their otherwise corporate lives wouldn't allow. Black Rock City, does not allow money exchange (other than for coffee and ice), but that does not mean that it is a place for anybody. It would be a very different experience to attend BM with little or no money.
I was itching to leave the population and decided to hitch-hike my way back to Oregon. The best time I had there was chilling with the gate-volunteers accepting the donations from the yuppies of cigarettes and liquor. goddamn, who just dumps those things away?
luckily, I was there to recieve.
I caught a ride home that made me realize why ladies are warned not to hitch-hike. I'll leave at that for now.

as it goes, i go...
i found a home. a really big home in industrial SE. i'm really excited about moving into it and covering up those white white walls.
i was recruiting prayers and juju to get this home. i was pulling from so many avenues that i'm not sure which one worked. shit. i guess i must return to a life of ambiguity.

Hobo Joe Returns With Only Minor Molestation From Amtrak Ride
since March, three strangers have taken it upon themselves to touch my feet with out my permition.
1) Chicago-Bar-Drunk-Teamster-Waiting-For-His-Train: proceeded to ask me if i was a "Janis Joplin Chick". i hated this question for two reasons a) i knew it was a varient of the "Are you a hippie?" question and b) i don't like it when "dudes" use the word "chick", especially when refering to me. Man-mentioned continues inquery with, "I mean, your a free spirit. right?". to which i replied: "i ain't chargin'." He continues being boring by bashing another random man buying us drinks. "The guy's a dweeb, a goof, a nobody. I'm saying, the guy is a DORK. He has no life. No life" a glimmer of empathy sparkled in his eye. to which i replied: "sure, but he's buying".
(foot molestation part)
Man-Mentioned asks if i have any tatoos and i show him my feet. he gets on the floor and start rubbing my feet and sez, "you sure are pretty, ya know?".
2) Random-Man-On-Greyhound-From-NYC-To-Eastern-Shore: woke up an hour from "home" to a question: "Blah Blah Blah Blah?" "Huh?" "Wah Wah Wah Wah?" "Huh?" "Where are you from?" "Oregon" "Are they all snobs in Oregon?" "Man, i just woke up, ok?" Next was a half ass conversation about his serving in the Gulf War and being stationed in California at one time. i lie about what i'm doing and where i'm living. he moved seats to right next to me. "You've got purddy feet."
(foot molestation part)
"Do you like to be tickled?" "No." Meanwhile, i'm thinking "why?" and about all the weirdos that come around seeking solace and then someone to attack. i've never understood that phenom. lonely people who just want to talk but then turn it to a mackin' session. So, Man-Mentioned grabs my foot and starts "tickling". i said, "do not touch my feet." "You don't like to be tickled?" "no, i don't like ticklers". the next fifteen minutes were filled with awkward ignoring, until finally, when arriving to destination, Man-Mentioned sez "Bye, Kimberly. Bye!"
3) Non-discript-Foreign-Man-From-?-But-Working-On-The-Amtrak-Currently: he was one of those train steward assholes that thinks it entertaining to say one-liners. talkers are milk.... over time.... in the elements..... sssssshhh. Man-Mentioned, starts coming around more and more. getting in my business more and more.
(foot molestation part)
touched feet to look at tattoos. i praying that my posion ivy is still contaigous. man grabs my cd player and "listens" to the album and says "good, good." "great." my first mistake was half-laughing at his half-jokes. everyone wants an audience and if you are the only one they can see who is listening..... BEWARE. i ask him about being extroverted then he talks about fighting in some war in South Africa in the late fifties? and, i say "what for?" and, he says "oh, i've got to return to work!" So, i'm on this train for three fucking days and this man keeps talking to me and sitting down next to me. i made the mistake of bumming him one of my cigarettes. i guess it's a come-on where he is from, 'cause he sez to me, whispering: "So, what you need to do when you get to Portland is come to the hotel i'm staying at and drink some beers with me and then we'll go out and get some more beers and then we'll go see some strippers. ok?" touches my face. moves me to a new seat, so that i may be alone and "sleep" on them, curled. feeling very creeped out at that point. waiting for Portland and a mad dash out of there.
